Post: Project Manager – Fixed Term Position for a KZN Treasury funded Cash Plus Care project.
Period: May 2018 – March 2019
Location: King Cetshwayo District with regular weekly meetings in Pietermaritzburg at CINDI Head Office

Project Manager
ROLE OF POSITION
The Project Manager will have the responsibility for all aspects of technical and operational program management in order to optimize program performance and outcomes. This includes systematic monitoring of program results against targets and work plans, operationalization of program standards, and employing data for decision-making and course correction. S/he will ensure effective coordination with key stakeholders including government, CBOs, and private sector as well as robust sub-partner management. The Project Manager will ensure program effectiveness and cost efficiency through appropriate human and financial resource management. The Project Manager will report directly to the Director of CINDI.

RESPONSIBILITIES
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (with activities)
Lead the project and serve as a central point of contact and resolution for any contractual issues.
Maintain a complete and thorough knowledge of the original proposal, the contract and all contract modifications.
Maintain the status of all tasks through regular meetings or correspondence with the program’s designated Supervisors, Key Personnel, and Joint Management Teams.
Acknowledge all verbal or written correspondence from KZN Treasury regarding the Cash Plus Care Project.
Attend all required meetings established by KZN Treasury and CINDI.
Maintain an integrated master schedule to ensure all program personnel, activities and resources are efficiently aligned to meet contract objectives.
Provide effective mentoring, counselling, and discipline for all program employees.
Demonstrate effective oral and written communication.
Support field office leadership to deliver technical solutions within a framework of compliance and solid financial management.
Ensure program deliverables are met and on schedule and that program activities are compliant with client agreements, government regulations and CINDI policies and procedures.
Serve as the key point of contact for the prime implementing organisation.
Contribute to development of program technical deliverables including work plans and annual reports.
Respond to client requests and questions and ensuring timely drafts and submissions of consents, approvals and/or waivers.
Manage the financial relationship between the field and the home office including approval and review of cash requests, field expense reports, and budget review, as well as coordinate pipeline and accrual submissions.
Manage, monitoring and reporting on budget expenditures and forecasting.
Manage the monitoring and evaluation activities of a program including contributing to the finalization and submission of program work plans, performance monitoring plans (PMPs) and quarterly, annual, and other reports.
Manage the relationship with all subcontracted organisations on a program.
Promote program success by collecting, writing, and distributing success stories, case studies, photos and outreach at events.
Attend informative events related to the subject matter or region of a program to network and learn information that could be valuable to program activities.
Support knowledge management within the practice including the capture and articulation of success stories, best practice and lessons learned.
Other duties as assigned.

Relevant Qualifications / Skills and Experience this post requires:
Minimum 5 years of Management experience within the NPO Sector.
A working relationship with key government and civil society stakeholders within the King Cetshwayo District.
A Bachelor’s Degree.
A background in Monitoring and Evaluation would be an added advantage.
