Counselling Psychologist / Educational Psychologist
The College invites applications for the abovementioned position which will be available from 1 September 2018. The starting date is negotiable. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who believe they have the required skills and competencies to take on this position.
The position entails:
Provision of counselling services and interventions to adolescent girls, parents, staff and others where applicable.
Development of individual, group and school-wide interventions to promote wellness, particularly psycho-social wellbeing.
Identification of support needs and containment of presenting difficulties or crises. Ongoing case management, referral, and development of relevant professional networks and resources.
Ability to work systemically within the broader school context, as well as within a team of support professionals.
Knowledge of Positive Psychology and commitment to practising predominantly from this paradigm.
Ethical conduct in line with HPCSA and other relevant regulations; the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and appropriate boundaries in all matters related to work.
Suitable professional qualifications and appropriate educational experience; teaching experience is essential.
Commitment to working with adolescents and an understanding of issues affecting teenage girls.
The ability to prioritise, multi-task and work under pressure and within a dynamic school environment.
Excellent verbal & written communication, organisational, administrative, inter-personal and emotional intelligence skills.
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team and wider system with multiple stakeholders.
A commitment and proactive approach to reflective practice as well as continuous personal and professional development.
Computer literacy with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
Professional registration as a psychologist with the HPCSA, which is current and compliant in CPD requirements. Proof of registration with SACE (if applicable) and a sexual offender’s clearance certificate. Any staff member working within a school is required to have a sexual offender’s clearance certificate.
A willingness to work within the values, Christian ethos and mission of the College as well as participation in the broader life of the school.
