Job Description

Responsibilities include:

Sit in with counsellors during counselling sessions to ensure that quality standards are maintained
Observe how counsellors interact with clients, and that appropriate counselling skills are applied
Debrief counsellors on a bi-monthly basis to empower them with knowledge and motivate them
Identify and fill gaps in counselling skills
Identify any emotional issues that may impact on the counselling provided
Ensure VMMC protocols are adhered to
Ensure that sufficient counselling staff is on duty at any given time
Ensure that staff comply with company dress code policy
Ensure that register book has been filled in by Counsellors
Ensure that professional conduct is always adhered to
Conduct disciplinary meeting with counsellor in the event of misconduct
In the event of misconduct escalate to Clinic Manager
Facilitate in-house training
Provide training on gap identified e.g. proper completion of forms, TB information
Provide documentation to support in-house training
Facilitate role plays after in-house training
Provide mentoring to new Counsellors
Provide VMMC services to clients at the site and at outreach when required
Provide group information sessions to clients on VMMC when required
Supply weekly statistics reports
Compile monthly debriefing sessions reports
Compile sit in report after each session
Compile in-house training report and role play report after in-house training has taken place
Submit reports to Clinic Manager
Compile weekly counsellor work schedule and submit to Clinic Manager

Requirements:
Degree/diploma in Nursing Sciences or Social Sciences or Education or Humanities – or Studying towards
Driver’s license an advantage
3 years’ experience in HIV & AIDS Counselling
Training experience
Supervision and mentoring experience
