St Charles College, founded in 1875, is an independent Christian boy’s college situated in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, catering for day boys from Grade 000 to Matric with boarders from Grade 4 upwards. The College has written the University of Cambridge International IGCSE, AS Level and A Level Examinations since 2002.

Admissions & Finance Assistant
St Charles College is looking to employ a suitably qualified person to work alongside the PA to the Principal providing a vital function in being the administrative and organisational support for individuals of families making enquiries for entry of a pupil into the college. To provide accurate and timely direction for those prospective parents wanting to advance into the admissions process, through to the orientation of new families including a full understanding of parental financial obligations. Bridging the gap between admissions and finance related matters, this role thereby provides the necessary administrative support to the academic and finance department.

It is imperative that the candidate has a strong administrative background and shows the ability, initiative and the willingness to learn in order to grow into the position – and to grow the position. As with any developing organisation, it is understood that the position offered is dynamic and consequently there may be significant changes to the initial tasks linked to core responsibilities as the needs of the College change.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Attending to all correspondence received from enquiry through to admissions.
Orientation of new families into the College.
Obtaining, maintaining, recording and updating all documentation for the purpose of safeguarding the pupil, parent and College relationship including the terms of enrolment.
Account database administration.

The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in independent schools administration.
Experience in the use of Pastel, MS Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Email.
Excellent communications skills, including fluency in Speaking/Reading/Writing in English and Afrikaans with French and IsiZulu being an added advantage.
Previously demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and interact with all levels of staff and management.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Detail‐oriented and sensitive to confidential information.
Good human relations skills and proven integrity.
