Bishop Bavin School, opened in January 1991, is a co-educational, Anglican day and boarding school in Bedfordview, Johannesburg. We are situated on magnificent grounds with excellent facilities. Bishop Bavin School seeks to appoint an experienced person to the position of Head of the Pre-primary School with effect from January 2019. The successful applicant will head up a vibrant Early Learning Centre, which includes a play-school and nursery school with children ranging from 3 months old to Grade 0, and will assume responsibility for all aspects of this part of the school. Reporting to the Executive Head and serving on the Exco, the Head of the Pre-primary School will play a key role in both the strategic and operational management of Bishop Bavin.
Suitable candidates will be expected to:
Lead, guide and support academic and all other staff
Have a passion for education as a profession
Demonstrate innovation and progressive thinking and leadership in teaching and learning, particularly as they apply to pre-primary children
Have knowledge of and experience with inclusive education
Be willing to teach within the school if necessary
Have a commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of the school
Have an ability and willingness to enhance and maintain the Anglican ethos of our school
Have excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
Have a willingness for self-development to enhance leadership at the school
Contribute at an Executive level
It is essential that the candidate has:
A B.Ed. Foundation Phase or other suitable academic and professional qualifications
A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a pre-primary environment
A love for children and a proven ability to communicate with them effectively
It would be advantageous if the candidate has:
Experience in a leadership and managerial post
