Onsite Consultant: Classroom Support Services (Payclass 07) Customer Services Division Information & Communication Technology Services

Customer Services (CSD) is a division of the Information & Communication Technology Services (ICTS) department.

The division is responsible for the IT and Classroom Support Services (CSS) Helpdesks, student computer lab management services, ICT acquisition and installation, service level agreements and communicating with the University community on behalf of ICTS. The CSS team is responsible for audio-visual and ICT provisioning and support in UCT’s centrally-bookable classrooms.

Applications are invited for dynamic and motivated people to fill this position in the CSS team.

The successful candidates will report directly to the Classroom Support Services Manager and will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of the Classroom Support Services onsite function.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• installing, repairing and maintaining new audio-visual and IT equipment in classrooms • researching and providing accurate and comprehensive solutions to customers• empowering customers to make more effective use of the ICT services available to them • contributing solutions to the resolution database • providing intermediate to advanced multimedia services and process multimedia tasks • providing proactive, reactive and/or onsite support for lectures and other events taking place
in UCT classrooms

Appointment requires:
 A Senior Certificate (audio-visual and IT qualifications will be advantageous)
 2-3 years working experience in an audio-visual and IT environment
 Must be fully computer literate and have a thorough working knowledge of common audio-visual and IT
hardware and software
 Good problem-solving skills and a strong customer service ethic
 Ability to work within a team
 Well-developed interpersonal skills
 Must be physically fit and able to work at heights
 Ability to work independently and under pressure
 Good written and spoken communication skills
 Able to work overtime when required
 An unendorsed driver’s licence

 Proven experience in one or more of the following: • ITIL • CTS • CTS-I • CTS-D • A+ • N+ • audiovisual design
 Working experience or qualification in AV products such as Digital Sound Processors and
Kramer/Crestron controllers
 Working experience in a Helpdesk support environment

The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is between R272543 and R320639, depending on experience and qualifications.
