The International School of South Africa is an independent co-educational boarding and day school situated on a superbly landscaped 54 hectare estate in the historic city of Mahikeng, North West Province. The School offers schooling from Grade 000 through to A Level, and follows the Cambridge International Curriculum.
The Board of Governors seeks to appoint a suitable candidate to the following position:
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER / HEAD: SENIOR SCHOOL
Date of Appointment: 1 January 2019.
In 2020 the School celebrates its 30th Anniversary. We seek an inspiring, innovative, visionary and committed leader with a strong sense of vocation who will continue to take this leading international, co-educational school forward to 2020 and beyond. Reporting to the Board of Governors, the incumbent will take full responsibility for the leadership, management and continued development of the International School of South Africa.
The applicant should be professionally qualified with appropriate university degrees; be a member of SACE; have more than 10 years’ experience in the School Education Sector, of which at least 5 years should be at Senior Management level; have a proven track record of leadership in the field of education; excellent inter-personal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with all stakeholders and foster a sense of team. Boarding school experience will be an advantage, as will knowledge of the Cambridge International Curriculum.
The International School of South Africa is proudly multi-national in both student and staff complement, with just under 680 students currently at the School. The School has a proud academic, cultural and sporting tradition founded upon excellence. The Primary School has its own Headmaster, but overall accountability for the School rests with the Chief Executive Officer. The School Executive works closely with the Board of Governors in the formulation of policy and strategy, while seeing to the Operations of the School. As Head: Senior School, the incumbent will oversee the day-to-day running of the Senior School, supported by the Senior School Management Team.
The School is recognised as one of the top Cambridge schools in the country, and the School is a certified Cambridge International Fellowship Centre. The Cambridge Examinations are recognised throughout the world, and equip our students to enter both South African universities, as well as tertiary institutions abroad. The School’s track record of excellence is evident through the achievements of our alumni at tertiary level, sustained over time.
Remuneration: The remuneration package, which includes accommodation on campus, will be commensurate with the seniority of this position, and the experience and skills of the candidate.
