Summary of Role
The Homework Supervisor works with the Aftercare Supervisor to ensure that children enjoy a happy, facilitated afternoon at school. Homework is to be completed and the children are entitled to playtime either inside the classroom or on the Astro. The Homework Supervisor may ask for guidance and support from the Deputy in the Junior Preparatory or in the Senior Preparatory, and they report directly to the Heads of School.
Hours of work: 14 00 – 17 00 Monday to Friday
Venue: Grade 1 classroom and Astro field, Grade play area, when available
Facilitating student’s homework.
Ensuring that as much of the homework is completed by end of the day (Homework Supervisor may sign the homework, but it needs to be resigned by the parent)
Ensure that the environment where homework is done is structured and peaceful.
Liaise with Register Teachers regarding method of homework and the children’s assignments and progress.
Bring to the Register Teacher’s attention any issues, learning difficulties and/or emotional problems that a child may be encountering.
Provide emotional support when and where needed to students. Liaise with parents regarding student’s homework.
Assist and support and resolve any conflict that may arise between the children. Make sure children are safe, happy and looked after during Homework Club.
Assist with the running of Adventure Zone should the Supervisor not be available. Assist and help with anything else at the School or Heads’ request.
Attend parent meetings with teachers and the Heads’ should it be necessary. Attend any function relevant to the functioning of the Homework Club and School.
Special note: The above details pertain primarily to Grade 1 – 3. In addition, the post requires supervision of Senior Preparatory students (Grade 4 – 6). These students join the Homework Centre after school and or after extra-murals.
Qualification in ECD and /or Primary School or relevant teacher’s qualification
