Main purpose of the job
To develop academic material and lecture in allocated subjects for own and other programmes and to execute appropriate
community projects

Minimum Qualification/Knowledge & Experience

To be appointed as Associate Professor:
• A relevant Doctorate level degree (i.e. D Tech / PhD/ NQF 10 or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
• At least six years’ teaching / lecturing experience in the relevant subject field
• Evidence of research output, post-graduate supervision and presentations at national and international conference in line with CUT’s promotion requirements

To be appointed as Senior Lecturer:
• A relevant Doctorate level degree (i.e. D Tech / PhD/ NQF 10 or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
• At least four years’ teaching / lecturing experience in the relevant subject field
• Evidence of research output, post-graduate supervision and presentations at national and
international conference in line with CUT’s promotion requirements

To be appointed as Lecturer:
• A relevant Master’s-level degree (i.e. M Tech / Masters / NQF 9 or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
• At least two years’ teaching / lecturing / industry experience in the relevant subject field Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer: Civil Engineering

Desired Qualification, Knowledge And/Or Experience

To be appointed as Lecturer:
• Evidence of progress towards a Doctorate degree will be an advantage
• Evidence of research output (publication) and presentation at national conferences in line with CUT’s promotion requirements
• Evidence of progress towards registration as a Candidate/Professional Technologist/Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa

To be appointed as Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor:
• Registration as a Professional Technologist/Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa
• Evidence of leadership in the relevant academic disciplines, i.e. involvement in significant
community activities in professional and developmental fields
