Job Description:
You will assist the Survey Officer/ Senior Survey Officer to execute duties and ensure that the required work, both on surface, Pit and Underground is carried out safely, effectively and efficiently in the required manner.

Your responsibilities will include:

Perform basic maintenance on Surveying equipment by cleaning and lightening various screw nuts according to departmental standards
Clean and monitor equipment functionality
Assist surveyors with the installation of survey stations
Assist surveyors according to procedures i.e tape@ zero, rod perpendicularly
Check stock levels on consumables and inform supervisor accordingly
Prepare equipment for specific survey fieldwork
Drive and complete pre-start check on survey vehicles
Performs basic tape survey measurements
Radio communication according to set procedures
Function as a member of a team and co-ordinate individual and team activities or provide input in terms of team resources allocation
This role is in the Engineering Asset Management Department at a Band 9 Level and reporting to the PM Officer Work Order Management

Education required:

Grade 12/Std 10 or equivalent National Certificate, Mathematics & Science preferably
· Computer Literacy – MS Office Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook)

Experience & knowledge required:

Survey assistant experience in a Mine or Construction environment
Other requirements:

Be prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, call-outs, and work overtime as per what the role my require
Able to tolerate physical exertion, capable of lifting weights up to 25 kg
Valid EB/Code 08 Drivers License
Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground. Medical assessment will include vertigo and claustrophobia amongst others
The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric and technical assessments and security clearance.
